Good service, nice staff, very central location, fast free internet.
Our tour with them to the pyramids was bad, we felt cheated badly, all the tourist scams in the book. I'm not sure how much was hotel policy and how much was the driver's own initiative. Their breakfast was very well talked of online, but really it was in no way anything special. You might get much noise in the night, but it's to be expected in central cairo.

The hotel is very clean and has a great location. the exterior looks a little rough, but the rooms and hotel itself is very clean. The Bella Luna (which is the nicer version of the Luna) has bathrooms whose walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling. So, anyone sharing a room with you can hear every noise from the bathroom. The room is very basic, with no tv. Perfect hotel for a night or two and to explore what central Cairo (and the Egyptian museum has to offer). The world-famous Egyptian museum is only about a 10-15 minute walk away, and one of Cairo's best Koshary (local pasta dish) restaurants, Abou Tarek, is only a 3-5 minute walk away.
Don't use the hotel to book your tours--they were overpriced. We hired a car, driver and English-speaking guide from the Royal Sonesta's concierge desk. They charged us $100 for the day for 4 people for a car, driver and English speaking guide. The car stayed with us for 12 hours. Also, if you use the Bella Luna's airport pickup service confirm in writing with them that they will send a car big enough for the number in your party. There were 4 people in our party, and they sent us a tiny sedan that did not fit our luggage. We barely fit and ultimately had to sit with big suitcases on our laps. The hotel blamed us, saying we had too much luggage, when we only had one big suitcase per person--they took no responsibility for their fault!

Bela Luna is on the busiest street in downtown Cairo so bring your earplugs because Cairo is a city that doesn't sleep much! We loved being in the center of things---great location for seeing all of Cairo. The rooms are large and comfortable with good breakfast and free wi-fi. The staff is charming, courteous and helpful. A lovely place to stay!

Very central in Downtown Cairo so was easy to walk to shopping places, the Cairo museum and to see the real Cairo.
We forgot just how noisy Cairo can be between 8pm and 2 am, which is when Cairo comes to life so we had trouble trying to sleep after a very busy day of sightseeing and suffering from jet-lag from the USA time change. Rooms not soundproof. Entrance to hotel on street level in need of a face change and clean up (knowing Cairo, that is not going to happen). Felt a bit apprehensive to enter the lift as it is a decrepid contraption but is worked well and got us to the third floor with no problems. The room was ok given the rate we paid per night. For our needs,a clean bed and a place to "sleep" for one night, it served its purpose but it is in no way a luxury hotel. It does allow tourists to see "real" Cairo life 1st hand.

The location was fantastic, and the bedroom itself was bright and clean. Breakfast was fine.
Our main issue was that there was no hot water. We were told to let it run "for a few minutes" and that the hot water would come, but it was warm at best and it definitely took more than several minutes to warm to that level. There were also some problems with scheduling our ride to the airport. We also had booked a quieter room in the Bella Luna, but were downgraded to a street side room in the Luna. We appreciated the cut in rate, but there was a reason we confirmed the other booking in the first place.

good breakfast, good location
overpriced (this is a cheap hotel but price is not), not helpful staff (except one lady staff who was very helpful). Its affiliated guest house in the same building Luna Hotel is a good value as a cheap hotel.
